How to Prepare a Wire Mesh RFQ Before Asking for Price
Clear quotation requests help suppliers compare the same product basis instead of guessing material, opening, size, packing or destination details.
A wire mesh quotation is rarely based on product name alone. Two buyers may both ask for “wire mesh”, but one may need stainless steel filter cloth, another may need temporary fence panels, and another may need expanded metal sheet for a guard. A useful RFQ gives enough information to identify the product route and the quotation basis.
Start With the Product Route
If you know the product name, include it first. If you do not know the exact name, send the application, a reference photo or a previous supplier specification. Product route language may include stainless steel wire mesh, expanded metal, temporary fence panels, fiberglass mesh, welded mesh or custom cut pieces.
Confirm the Measurable Specification
The most important detail depends on the product group. Woven mesh buyers usually compare mesh count, aperture and wire diameter. Expanded metal buyers compare SWD, LWD, strand width, thickness and sheet size. Temporary fence buyers compare panel size, frame tube, wire diameter, mesh opening, feet and clamps. Fiberglass mesh buyers compare roll size, mesh weight, aperture and coating.
Do Not Skip Quantity and Destination
Quantity changes production planning, packing method and freight discussion. Destination affects document needs, packing assumptions and container loading. Even an estimated quantity is better than no quantity when the goal is to begin a practical review.
Packing Details Reduce Surprises
Packing can be simple or very specific. Rolls may need cartons, woven bags, pallets or labels. Sheets may need wooden pallets or protective layers. Fence panels may require feet, clamps, stacking and container loading notes. If the buyer has a warehouse or resale requirement, packing should be discussed before the final quotation.
